80 Attend Frankfort Powerline Meeting
Posted: Jun. 20th, 2006
FRANKFORT - About 80 people attended a forum Monday at the Frankfort-Schuyler High School auditorium to discuss the proposed New York Regional Interconnect power line, the first meeting if its kind in Herkimer County.
Under an alternate plan, the line would go through some of the western edge of the county, however many of the audience said they feared the line could end up taking the Herkimer route.
"When there is a choice of New Hartford or Frankfort do you think it would ever, ever go through New Hartford? There's just no question about it in my mind, especially when it would go through Commercial Drive," said Nancy Bender of Frankfort. She said it would go right through her side yard.
Like many of the other community meetings across the region, this was one in which officials gave information and fielded questions and took audience suggestions.
Supervisor Joseph Kinney led the meeting and encouraged residents to get involved.
