Mr. Alsante has been employed with the Town of Frankfort Highway department since March of 1977. Jim was elected as the Highway Superintendent in January 1982.

Plus Seasonal Part-time Employees The Town of Frankfort is located in central New York, the Mohawk Valley area, adjacent to Utica NY, 50 miles east of Syracuse and 80 miles west of Albany.
The Town of Frankfort is the 3rd largest township in Herkimer county. It is one of 19 towns in Herkimer county, the county also has 5 villages and 1 city. Our township incorporates a village of the same name (Village of Frankfort).
Our Township has a population of approximately 7500 people. The Town of Frankfort incorporates 4 different jurisdictions for highway maintenance, state roads, county roads, town roads and village roads, for a total combined mileage of 109.21 lane miles, in our township.

Road Information
Each governing body being state, county, town and village, has total responsibility to maintain their road network, being if it pertains to potholes, a culvert or maintenence thereof the road surface, it is the sole responsibiility of that governing body.
The town of Frankfort does contract plowing and sanding a portion of State Roads St. Rte 171 (Frankfort Gorge) approximately 6 miles of road.
The Town of Frankfort contracts plowing and sanding all county roads in our township approximately 43.6 miles.
We do no services realtive to the new route 5S.
We do no services, relative to our village streets.
